This is not a general purpose “learning” tool

This site does one thing: help kids (and parents) from New York City prepare for the SHSAT. Or anyone curious about brushing up on algebra, geometry, probabilities, and word problems.

You probably don’t live in a $60 million penthouse

But if you do, congrats! Seriously, that’s awesome, and you should check out this guy.

I imagine you’re someone who hustles to pay the bills, and maybe doesn’t understand the ins-and-outs of Venn diagrams and parametric equations –– like my mom. She grew up during a war, and never got a chance to complete the fifth grade. She was focused on scrounging up food and protecting her brothers without getting beat up or stabbed. So she’s no stranger to walking and chewing gum at the same time. She’s an immigrant –– like me. I’d like to think that you, like most New Yorkers, are a little bit like her. And that’s why you’re here.

Who I am and why I’m doing this

I’m a New York City dad who helped his daughter get into Brooklyn Tech. One of my biggest frustrations was not being able to find enough quality sample questions that closely mimicked the test. I think I’ve cracked that problem, with the help of some open source software. I’m still tweaking it, but I’d like to share what I’m building with other parents and students. When you sign up for the newsletter, you’ll get free access to early versions of it as soon as it’s ready.

I’m a software engineer who has worked in AI computer vision, as well as cloud-based production tracking—for films and games. My primary skillset is anchored around automation—making things work faster and more reliably.

Newsletter recipients get free access to early versions of an app I’m working on

A web + mobile-friendly version of the app I made for my daughter last year –– with 1,000’s of challenges and some gamification that adopts the imagery of New York City neighborhoods.
